The idea for a project usually comes to
me fully planned, complete with its own rules, installation, format,
even lens. execution only requires that certain conditions are met.
but because I may not be at the viewfinder there is room for chance within
the conditions. the camera can be on a timer - driving, hotel rooms -
or I can be just out of frame, busy pointing with a flashlight to what
will get an exposure - les maisons ne dorment jamais...
I never know exactly what is going to happen. but it is the risk inherent
to my projects which thrills me, like when a child I was running on rocks
at low tide, never sure my foot would find a support from the slippery
stone my eye had selected.
